Second Annual Rally for Mental Health
Join NAMI Kentucky in Frankfort on Tuesday, February 7 at 11:00am in the Capitol Rotunda. We will hear short remarks on the importance of Tim’s Law and our other advocacy priorities.
Please reach out to your legislators and ask them to join us for the rally and join us for lunch afterwards. If you have an appointment with your legislator on Feb. 7, please let NAMI Kentucky know. We need a big turnout on our advocacy day if we are going to make a difference in 2017, so gather your local NAMI members, friends, families, neighbors and co-workers to help advocate change for mental health!
If you plan to attend NAMI Kentucky’s Advocacy Day in Frankfort on Feb. 7th, please let us know by Wed. Feb. 1st. If you plan to attend but you don’t have a NAMI yellow t-shirt let us know your size by Wed. January 25th.
Thanks to all of our members who have reached out to their legislators in support of Tim’s Law, Senate Bill 91. Since our last advocacy update, Tim’s Law has two new sponsors, Sen. Danny Carroll and Sen. Stan Humphries. They join a growing list of senators who have officially signed on to this important piece of legislation, including Sen. Julie Raque Adams, Sen. Ralph Alvarado, Sen. Alice Forgy Kerr, and Sen. Morgan McGarvey.
This bill will help people in the darkest depths of mental illness obtain assisted outpatient treatment and it will not pass without your help. Your legislators will listen to your calls. Please call 800–372-7181 and ask to leave the following message for your Senator:
“Please support Tim’s Law, SB 91. Tim’s Law will help people in Kentucky who are currently unable to access effective treatment for mental illness. Outpatient treatment plans have proven successful in other states, and they would help families and individuals impacted by mental illness in Kentucky. Please support Tim’s Law, SB 91.”
